  • Karen Lane orginally from Perth Australia, has been a lover of Brasilian music for over a decade first singing the repertoire in English on her Album “Taste” and more recently singing in Brasilian Portuguese on her album “Passarim” Lane is a rare breed of singer who uses subtle and intimate phrasing – interpreting standards with a great depth and sensitivity few singers manage.

Her impeccable pitching and vocal tone are not to missed and will leave you feeling like you are basking in an oasis of tranquility on a balmy Summer night. Her delivery embodies the wisdom of one who has experienced a myriad of life’s love and losses.

She is accompanied by brilliant Canadian Guitarist Dominic Ashworth and the fine UK pianist Dorian Ford.

“A lovely singer …Highly Recommended” – BBC Radio 2 UK – Michael Parkinson

“Once in a Lifetime is certainly the real Karen Lane. I know of no one else who sings with what I can only describe as her demure abandon. It’s wholehearted but at the same time restrained, precisely phrased but not studied a fine and distinctive singer.” – Musician Magazine UK – Dave Gelly

“When you hear her softly Latinised account of ‘On Green Dolphin Street’ the band resembles Astrud Gilberto in some kind of unannounced encounter with the MJQ. She swings gracefully on ‘Devil May Care’, and is sensually funky on a soulful ‘Love Me or Leave Me’.” – Jazz UK Magazine – John Fordham
