  • Following recent appearances at New York’s Lincoln Center, EFG London Jazz Festival, and singing in the hit 2026 Netflix drama “Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials”, “Renaissance Man in a Jazz World Sam Jewison celebrates the genius of Harold Arlen.

Praised as “the most original of all of us” by George Gershwin, Arlen’s classic tunes – including “Get Happy“, “One for My Baby“, “Stormy Weather“, and “Let’s Fall in Love“ – have come to define the Great American Songbook. Indeed, “Over the Rainbow“ was crowned the twentieth century’s best song by the American Film Institute in 2004, and his Hollywood musicals starring Judy Garland – most notably “The Wizard of Oz“ and “A Star Is Born“ – are lauded as masterpieces.

Jewison’s vocal prowess and pianistic virtuosity has seen him tour internationally. His kaleidoscopic interpretation of music that inspired such legendary artists as Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and Oscar Peterson fuses elements of jazz improvisation and classical music with traditional popular song, resulting in a captivating display of artistry.

He headlined the 2020 ReGeneration Festival in Florence and the 2021 BBC Radio 3 Christmas Special, playing the award-winning Nevill Holt Opera House in 2022 and the 2024 Rame Lahaj International Opera Festival in Pristina in 2024. Jewison has performed at iconic London venues, including Camden’s famous Jazz Café, Westminster Abbey, and the Royal Opera House. He made his ROH recital debut in 2022 with “The Composer in Hollywood“, returning in 2024 with “The Composer on Broadway“.
