  • A deliciously eccentric French cabaret sensation is washing up on English shores…

La Sirène à Barbe (“The Bearded Mermaid”) is a gloriously off-beat blend of music, mischief, and mythical imagination. Expect a riotous cocktail of chanson française, live instruments, physical comedy, circus-style artistry, and surreal storytelling—served with the theatrical flourish only the French can deliver. Whether you’re a Francophile, a cabaret connoisseur, or simply up for something joyously unexpected, La Sirène à Barbe brings a wave of heart, humour, circus spectacle, and hypnotic charm that’s impossible to resist.

La Sirène à Barbe is a cabaret in Dieppe, Normandy, France, directed by Nicolas Bellenchombre, who also performs as Diva Béluga. The cabaret opened in June 2021 in a former cinema on Place Nationale in Dieppe.

Since its opening, La Sirène à Barbe has presented varied live performances by drag queens and other artists, including music, theatrical elements, and circus-style acts, becoming a notable venue for performance and celebration in the region.

In October 2024, a feature film titled La Sirène à Barbe, co-directed by Nicolas Bellenchombre and Arthur Delamotte, was released in French cinemas. The fiction film features members of the cabaret and tells the story of a local fisherman who encounters the cabaret’s world of performance, spectacle and community through the eyes of a local fisherman who discovers the magic and humanity behind the stage.
