The material from this album, which she performs at Crazy Coqs  captures Joanna’s speciality with heart-felt storytelling, which, with her latest line-up lends itself to joyous syncopation; the combination is intoxicating. Mixed by Grammy-winning-engineer, Rich Breen, in Los Angeles and recorded in part at Montevideo’s legendary Sondor Studios, this album and the sounds at this Crazy Coqs concert, combines an English soul with a South American, Latin heartbeat.

Like those of her songwriting hero Joni Mitchell, Eden‘s compositions ask life’s tough questions through imagery, metaphor and an achingly honest intimacy. The quality of Joanna’s live work is reflected by the stellar list of artists she and her world class band have supported including Van Morrison, Tom Jones, Jamie Cullum, Roy Hargrove, Omara Portuondo and The Buena Vista Social Club, among others.

Joanna mentored superstar Sam Smith for 9 years. They credit her simply as “the reason I sing… she taught me everything I know.” Smith chose to duet with Eden at their recent BBC Prom. The pair performed an emotional rendition of ‘Hushabye Mountain’ from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang accompanied by Joanna at the piano and the BBC Concert Orchestra in front of a packed Royal Albert Hall.

Joanna is joined at this concert by:
    Andrés Lafone – bass
    Guillermo Hill – guitar
    George Double— drums
