Ivana Gavrić: Throwback to Dance

International concert pianist Ivana Gavrić launches her new album Throwback to Dance with evocative music from the Baroque to the glamorous Parisian Belle Époque.

Described as ‘electrifying’ (BBC Music Magazine) and ‘impressive…ravishing’ (Washington Post), Ivana will weave her signature insightful stories through a series of works she has selected to play from the album, in this more laid-back solo piano recital.

Throwback to Dance explores how composers turn to old dance forms to carve out new paths: predominantly court dances, folk dances but also the more ‘modern’ waltz. Programme will include the Holberg Suite and Norwegian Dances by Grieg, a new Dance Suite by Cheryl Frances-Hoad, as well as pieces by Couperin, Chaminade, Pejačević and Ravel, who was born 150 years ago.
