  • If they could see me now: The Words & Music of Dorothy Fields tells the story of the only female lyricist to have a career spanning over 50 years, more than 400 songs and taking in collaborations with Jerome Kern (The Way you Look Tonight), Jimmy McHugh (Sunny Side of the Street, I Can’t Give you Anything but Love) and Cy Coleman (Hey Big Spender).

With her brother Herb, Dorothy Fields wrote Annie Get your Gun. Friends with the Gershwins, Rogers & Hammerstein, she had a remarkable career in a male-dominated industry and managed to outlast many of her peers through her skill in wordplay and use of humour.

Jazz & blues singer Suzanne Noble will share the stories behind many of her most famous and less well known songs. Accompanied by former West End pianist/arranger Paul Maguire (Evita, A Chorus Line, Phantom and others), who shares her enthusiasm for the American Songbook and Musical Theatre, they will tell of the highs & lows of one of America’s most influential and prolific lyricists.
