Awaken is an evocative musical journey rooted in the jazz tradition and shaped by the richness of European musical heritage. Voice, composition, and rhythm intertwine in a living soundscape that blends poetic storytelling with refined interplay. Since 2006, Simona Parrinello’s vibrant voice and Gianluca Di Ienno’s eclectic and audacious piano have developed a distinctive musical dialogue, shaped by depth, nuance, and sensitivity.
The renewed artistic horizon for 2026, with Alessandro Rossi on drums, a core collaborator since 2014, and Michelangelo Scandroglio on double bass, a highly sensitive bassist, brings a rich and organic energy, creating performances that are both intimate and deeply immersive. Original compositions, jazz masterworks, and poetic texts define a sound world of refined interaction and emotional resonance.
“Within the rich landscape of contemporary Italian jazz, Simona Parrinello stands out for a poetic voice where American jazz tradition meets the sensibility of European musical heritage. In the quartet setting, this vision unfolds through refined interplay, where chiaroscuro dynamics, nuance, and deep listening shape a sound world of intimate expression and profound poetic research.” – Maurizio Franco Atelier Musicale XXVIII
“Simona Parrinello Con Alma is far from a run of the mill standards album. Full of originality, it reveals a voice that weaves seamlessly with the ensemble, creating a compelling and evocative soundscape. This album is a pure gem and should take pride of place in any music lovers collection. Highly recommended.” – Jazz In Europe review by Peter McLaren
