Cole Porter: The Stories Behind The Songs with Kate Garner

Join Kate Garner at the piano as she returns to Crazy Coqs for her personal tribute to the great Cole Porter.

Singing her favourite songs of the 20s & 30s from Porter’s iconic songbook, Kate will share the fascinating stories behind them, such as the ethereal ‘In The Still Of The Night’ that moved Louis B Mayer, known as ‘The Lion of Hollywood’, to tears; and ‘Night & Day’ his sublime song of longing which Irving Berlin called his ‘high spot.’

Kate will explore his method of songwriting- primarily starting with the title, then finishing up with a stunning melody and sophisticated lyrics.

Kate hosts the TV series ‘The Stories Behind The Songs’ and recently guested on Jools Holland’s BBC radio show ‘Earlier…’
