A Romanian-born, London-based singer, composer and storyteller, Tereza Catarov brings a powerful and evocative blend of modern jazz sensibilities with the haunting beauty of Balkan folk traditions. With roots in both Romanian and Bulgarian cultures, she weaves ancient melodies, modal harmonies, and intricate rhythms into bold contemporary jazz arrangements. The result is music that feels both timeless and forward-looking, rich in nuance, emotional depth, and unmistakable identity.
Her debut album, Koren, honours the voices of the women who shaped her early life, particularly her grandmothers and the wider community of elders from her childhood.
