  • Tori and Alcyona formed their duo in 2015 after being invited to perform together at the Manchester Jazz Festival. They have since toured extensively in the UK and internationally, including performances in Germany, Spain, Luxembourg, Austria and more recently featuring live on BBC Radio 3 In Tune.

    Both much in demand players on the London jazz scene, the two have performed together in a variety of ensembles, including Ingrid and Christine Jensen Whirlwind big band, Yazz Ahmed, Natacha Atlas, Nikki Iles Jazz Orchestra, Cleo Laine/Dankworth family band, Zero-Classikal, and are both members of the London Jazz Orchestra.

    The duo’s spontaneous, interactive approach shares a large range of musical influences that fall not only within the jazz genre, including English folk, Brazilian music, Arabic music, free improvisation and silent film.

    ‘Make One Little Room an Everywhere’ is the critically acclaimed second album release by Tori Freestone & Alcyona Mick Duo. After the success of their debut ‘Criss Cross’, the pair are creating a stir on the UK jazz scene after the premiere of Tori’s composition ‘Birds of Paradise’ at the Royal Albert Hall Elgar Room resulted in the Ivor’s Award for Jazz Composition, and Alcyona was nominated for a Parliamentary Jazz Instrumentalist of the Year Award in the run up to the album release. The new album also features the distinctive voices of award-winning jazz vocalist Brigitte Beraha and renowned world music star Natacha Atlas.
