  • Axel Kaner-Lidstrom is a trumpet player, band-leader, and composer. Born and raised in London to a musical family, he is an alumnus of Tomorrow’s Warriors and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music.

Most recently, Axel recorded an album with jazz legend, and Miles Davis band member, Gary Bartz, as well as touring internationally with rising star Celeste, performing Glastonbury Festival and Philharmonie De Paris to name a few.

Axel founded and directs Levitation Orchestra, a composer’s workshop that focuses on collectivity in creativity and aims to develop a cross-pollination of perspectives and concepts through the creation of original suites of music.

Miles Davis is undeniably one of the most influential jazz musicians of all time, having altered the course of music countless times.

Expect to be taken on a journey through this legacy, from the introspective meditations of Kind of Blue, the trail-blazing sounds of the Second Great Quintet, and the heavy funk of Miles’s iconic fusion era.

“one of the most inspiring projects I have worked on at Gearbox Records. Axel, as its musical director, could turn his hand to all musical creations, from sideman to bandleader….Onwards!” – Darrel Sheinman, Gearbox Records.
