Xara Vaughan is a fascinating talent with a fabulous voice and electrifying stage presence combining artistry and attitude. She spent her rebellious teenage years fronting a punk band, went on to be a Stringfellow's Angel and was more recently a fully ordained Buddhist nun running an orphanage in the Himalayas.
Usually Vaughan's repertoire spans everything from Coward to Brel and contemporary classics from bands such as Coldplay. However, in this new show she presents songs entirely from the repertoire of acclaimed songwriter Ty Jeffries (best know for his work on both sides of the atlantic as Miss Hope Springs).
Their's is a pairing born out of a love of singers such as Judy Garland and Lena Horne and songwriters such as Harold Arlen and Sondheim. "Whether it's his heartrending ballads, witty comic numbers or dramatic showstoppers, I love singing Ty's songs" says Vaughan and Jeffries responds "Xara delivers with the best of them in my book. She belts like Bassey and interprets as sensitively as a young Streisand. She's a real find!"
Returning to Crazy Coqs after her sold out debut earlier this year, Vaughan is excited to be premiering this exciting show.
