THE GRAHAM HUGHES TRIO: NEW ORLEANS AND SWING
One of the UK's leading trombone players within the swing and New Orleans genres. He is also a popular singer, putting his own stamp on a broad repertoire of songs from classic vintage crooners to boogies and blues. And if that's not enough he blows a mean chromatic harmonica on occasions.
Over the years Graham's reputation has steadily built so that now he appears regularly as a featured artist at jazz festivals around the UK, and tours Europe and further afield with many leading jazz and swing bands. He leads his own New Orleans style brass band, The Brass Volcanoes, which appears on a regular basis at Ronnie Scott's jazz club. His vintage band The Sunshine Kings has got toes tapping far and wide for some 15 years or so. He also programmed the popular Keswick Jazz and Blues Festival for three years to great acclaim.
Graham has a way of involving people, audience and band alike, in the music he plays, so that everyone feels the joy and spontaneity of the performance. This is one reason why he is one of the busiest musicians in the business!
He is looking forward to bringing his trio to Crazy Coqs for the first time this January.
