The Alex Webb Trio with special guest Cherise Adams-Burnett
Alex Webb is a songwriter, arranger and pianist whose songs have been performed by many UK and international jazz artists. His album of original material for jazz vocalists, Call Me Lucky, came out in 2016. He has also created and produced a series of words-and-music shows including Strayhorn the Songwriter, Charlie Parker on Dial, Fever: Jo Harrop sings Peggy Lee and Cafe Society Swing, which has enjoyed theatre runs in London and New York where it won a New York Times 'Critic's Pick'. In 2017, Webb co-composed and produced the musical Stormy: The Life of Lena Horne with actor/writer Camilla Beeput, which will play at Crazy Coqs in November 2018 as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival.
Still in her early 20s, Cherise Adams-Burnett is quickly becoming recognised as a fiercely talented vocalist and musician. Her unique delivery has won plaudits from audiences and critics and she has already been invited to collaborate with established artists and groups including the Nu-Civilisation Orchestra, Clare Teal, China Moses and Ashley Henry. For several years, Adams-Burnett has been the vocalist for the highly inventive group Trope. She owes much of her earlier development to the highly-regarded educational group, Tomorrow's Warriors. Nowadays she is glad to be involved in developing younger musicians through the same programme, as a both tutor and workshop leader.
