Award-winning singer/songwriter and composer, Rosabella Gregory, returns to Crazy Coqs following two sold-out performances of James Phillips' City Stories.
Expect the unexpected from a musician who dances in and out of genres; collaborating with the likes of Bob James and Anoushka Shankar, arranging for fellow musicians Bernhard Schimpelsberger and Soumik Datta, recording original duets with Alexander Hanson and "Go West" frontman Peter Cox, and composing full-length works for the likes of mezzo-soprano Sinéad O'Kelly (National Opera Studio), and Musical theatre's Caroline Sheen.
A Royal Academy of Music graduate, Gregory has released three solo albums and performed internationally and throughout the UK, supporting acts such as legendary broadcaster Jools Holland, and going solo at venues like 606, Pizza Express Jazz Club and the Royal Festival Hall.
Gregory is delighted to have such heavyweight musical champions as "Whispering" Bob Harris, who - during their live Radio 2 session - said of her piano style :"it reminds me of watching Brian May play the guitar", and Grammy-winning producer, Russ Titelman : "watching Rosabella perform is like watching a young Joni Mitchell".
For her own voice, Gregory reserves an intimate musical language, enriched with folk, jazz, pop as well as shades of Chopin and echos of indian classical. A storyteller at heart, her songs are thought-provoking observations of the world; poignant, playful, arresting and raw.
"Piano detail as elegant as classic architecture" - Paul Sexton, music journalist and broadcaster
"Ebullient piano riffs with just the right amount of cagy menace" - Rob Crossan, BBC
