Robert Fowler
"Robert's primary instrument is the tenor, which he plays with the swagger and swing of a latterday Al Cohn." Jazz Journal
Robert Fowler presents AN EVENING OF COOL GROVES & UNSTOPPABLE SWING, performing songs from his popular CD's, as well as a few new surprises.
With David Newton on piano & Arnie Somogy on bass.
Robert has played with many reputable artists, including Bryan Ferry, Madelline Bell, Lilian Boutte, Steve Winwood and Mitch Winehouse, and in London and Paris with Canadian singer, Rufus Wainwright.
You can hear Robert's solo clarinet on the soundtrack of Guy
Ritchie's film Snatch and his clarinet playing can be
heard on Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. He also
contributed to the soundtrack of Baz Luhrman's Great
Gatsby.
About eight years ago, Robert joined the ranks of the Humphrey
Lyttelton Band. Since Humph's death in April 2008, the band is
currently honouring many concert dates, performing his music as a
tribute to the great man.
In 2009, Robert teamed up with fellow sax player and Humph band member, Karen Sharp to record an album of Al Cohn & Zoot Sims tunes. The CD, entitled Brandy & Beer, has proved very popular.
He has also recently finished another solo CD, Flow which was released in May 2011.
