So powerful as a performer, Pierce Turner was voted Ireland's solo performer of the year in '94 and described by The Sunday Times as "the finest body of work in contemporary Irish music". For one night only at Crazy Coqs, expect brilliant songs with beguiling and hilarious storytelling, a touch of vaudeville, blended with his virtuoso piano and rollicking guitar.
Turner has made several appearances on Ireland's number one TV programme, The Late Late Show, as well as performed in Carnegie Hall with Philip Glass in 2002, and sold out Joe's Pub in New York nine times. He has appeared at the Glastonbury Festival before 60,000 people as well as the SXSW in Texas, Paul Muldoon's Picnic, and scored several movies.
Acclaimed amongst his peers, Christy Moore has covered Turner's songs (and written one titled, I Love The Way Pierce Turner Sings), legendary DJ John Peel named single, Wicklow Hills, one of the top 10 of all time, and A Hot Press poll voted his album, Now is Heaven, top 5 of the year. Turner's debut album on BMG was nominated for Indie Album of the Year in the New York Music Awards.
"There is no-one in the whole wide world of music quite like Pierce Turner; a unique visionary, the owner of a voice that drips emotion, a consummate lyricist and the creator of tunes which are both complex and accessible... Listen and marvel" - Penguin Books
"Easily one of the most important Irish artists of the last twenty years" - Irish Times
