Bluesy soul diva meets sharp suited cocktail swagger as David Mills and Nina Pelton reunite to tickle your funny bone and touch your heart with soaring vocals. A New Yorker in London meets an Britified American. Talk about a special relationship.
To set the scene, Pelton picks up where she left off during her performance at Crazy Coqs last year in the grips of Nina Simone's battle cries. Caught in the turmoil of good love and bad, she sings the music of Aretha Franklin, Phyllis Hyman, and other legends to bring her back to her feet. Suddenly, as she soaks her misery in the latenight cabaret scene, she comes upon Mills and, with his devil and angel comedic style, he makes it clear it's time for Pelton to pause, take note and focus.
Mills' signature style mixes nightclub crooning with stand-up swagger. He's performed on stages across the UK and US and appeared in films alongside Benedict Cumberbatch and Meryl Streep.
