"An evening of wonderful entertainment from a living legend." uktheatre.net
For over 30 years Mari Wilson - The Neasden Queen of Soul - has remained a much loved, respected artiste, delivering fans 'just what they always wanted': great records and fabulous shows.
Tonight Mari takes her audience on an intimate musical journey, with a mix of classical and contemporary songs, from The Bee Gees and Bacharach to Chrissie Hynde and Gerry Marsden. Mari will also perform some of her own hits, old and new, and perform a selection of songs from her new show - 'Am I The Same Girl - Mari Sings Dusty.' Her unique storytelling and wit runs throughout, and of course there will be a few glamorous costume changes.
Mari first arrived on the scene in the early 80's with her iconic skyscraper beehive hairdo, bizarre sense of fashion and fully choreographed 12-piece band The Wilsations. Very soon she became a mainstay of radio, TV and the stage.
In 2000, Mari was the obvious choice to play the legend Dusty Springfield on the hugely successful nationwide tour of Dusty The Musical and this year has seen Mari touring the UK with her sell-out concerts paying homage to Dusty Springfield with her unique interpretation of the classic hits along with some lesser known gems.
