'In an age where audiences are driven to elation by screeching high-belt notes, special effects and reality TV searches, a touching, raw-voiced storyteller brings us back home to what many subconsciously yearn for - authenticity.' The Stage
Internationally acclaimed performer Kate Dimbleby and pianist Naadia Sheriff return to the Crazy Coqs with a brand new songbook of soulful and mischievious songs inspired by the female songwriters of the 1970's plus a preview of original material from Kate's new acapella album "Songbirds".
Kate and Naadia's album "Beware of Young Girls : the songs of Dory Previn" was one of the Top Ten Albums of the Year (Sunday Times). Their show, based on the life of Dory Previn, Queen of 70's confessional songwriters, toured the UK and off-Broadway in 2015. The duo have performed on Jools Holland, Woman's Hour and Radio 3's in Tune.
"A shimmering vocal versatility…she has the musical talent and jewel-eyed confidence to guarantee an audience a good time" Evening Standard
"Capitivating" **** The Times
Kate has released five solo albums and toured the world with her one-woman shows about other female singers, selling out the Festival Hall and Ronnie Scotts and working with some of the best musicians in the country. Kate is about to tour her own one woman show called Songbirds, which tells the tale of how she found the courage to use her own voice to tell her personal story. She wants to inspire others to find their voices and connect with people, in the here and now. Without pretence. The show has an accompanying album also called Songbirds; a collection of 11 studio recordings, almost exclusively recorded with just her own voice, a capella. Multi layered. Which succeeds in being innovative and authentic simultaneously.
"With a voice of pure velvet, she has a magnetic stage presence …and captivates her audience." Glasgow Herald
"A marvellous storyteller with a golden voice" Upon the Sacred Stage, New York
