Jason Carr in Somethin' Good
with special guests Sophie-Louise Dann, Anna Francolini, Louise Gold, John Barr and Samuel Thomas
Well known to Zédel audiences as accompanist to Maria Friedman, Anne Reid and Lorna Dallas, Carr is not only a twice Tony-nominated orchestrator, but also an award-winning composer/lyricist whose musicals have played Chichester, West Yorkshire Playhouse and Birmingham Rep. Joined by a special group of leading West End performers, Carr presents a selection of his own work alongside some personal favourites, including songs by Irving Berlin and Harry Warren.
After winning the Vivian Ellis Prize for Young Writers of Musicals, Carr was commissioned to write Born Again, a musical of Ionesco's Rhinoceros, directed by Sir Peter Hall at Chichester in 1990 starring Mandy Patinkin and José Ferrer. As Associate Composer at Chichester, his musicals included The Water Babies, Six Pictures of Lee Miller and A Christmas Carol.
Carr has composed incidental music for more than 50 plays at the NT, RSC, in the West End and on Broadway. Orchestration credits include Menier Chocolate Factory productions of Sunday in the Park with George, A Little Night Music and La Cage aux Folles, in London and New York.
Somethin' Good includes songs and anecdotes from his wide-ranging career, from Shakespeare in Stratford-upon-Avon to the Paris Lido!
