Andy Warhol's silkscreen paintings, the cheeky song for JFK's birthday, white skirt billowing over a New York City subway grating. A pin-up dream come true.
The foundation of Marilyn the icon was her unique blend of childlike innocence and provocative feminine sexuality. Despite of her indisputable fame as a "bombshell" and one of the world's famous actresses of her time, Marilyn largely contributed to set the standards of the Jazz and Swing golden age in the 1940s/50s. Her breathy brassy voice singing My Heart Belongs to Daddy, I am Through With Love or Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend are history.
Today, 57 years after her death, jazz singer, Viviana Zarbo, reinterprets her songs - masterpieces composed by geniuses such as Cole Porter and Irving Berlin - in a personal way, devoid of clichés. Viviana creates an atmosphere in which some tales about Marilyn's life, as well as from the singer's own life, are intertwined and her role as an artistic model which shaped Viviana's career is recounted through Marilyn's songs.
An evening of music and celebration with a wonderful jazz band.
"Viviana Zarbo very much knows how to hold an audience imagination… the audience could not keep their eyes from the stage" - The Jazz UK
