Gill Manly: I Put a Spell on You

Gill Manly brings her critically acclaimed show to Live At Zédel following an 8 year residency at Ronnie Scott's. The shows authenticity is due, in large part, to Paul Robinson who was Nina Simone's drummer for 18 years. A musically fascinating journey through the eclectic range of songs recorded by Simone reflecting her whole career. Manly is a no-holds-barred dramatic and gutsy singer. She flies vocally without a net though jazz, soul, blues, pop and theatre.

Manly and the Simon Wallace trio drives her huge voice through all the massive hits, delivering legendary performances from the catalogue of a legend. Expect as many great songs as she can squeeze into this show from the 100's of recordings Simone released in her lifetime. And of course with the authentic touch of Simone's drummer. If you love Simone, you will love Gill Manly! Her new album Everything Must Change is out now.

"Gill's voice is nothing short of electric... singers with this much control and technique are a scarcity nowadays." - Jazz on CD Magazine

"Manly's bluesy voice tapped into the ballad's sense of longing. One of our most versatile jazz-blues singers, she made a long overdue return to recording last year... the music itself was full of individual touches." - Clive Davis, The Times
