Following the last two years of sell out shows, the award-winning singer and musical theatre star Patti Boulaye returns with her new one-woman show Aretha and Me.
This is the most apposite post-lockdown show. Patti who will be accompanied by her musical director Alan Rogers, compares and contrasts her life with the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin, who had a celebrated career including 17 Top 10 pop singles and 20 No.1 R&B hits during her 5 decades of recording.
Patti will be singing some of her favourite Aretha Franklin numbers including Respect, Natural Woman, Say A Little Prayer, Chain of Fools and Think and many more of Aretha’s hits.
Two years ago, Patti published her remarkable and moving autobiography ‘The Faith of A Child’ that charts her riveting life story through wealth, poverty and civil war, to show-business stardom and success in Britain and her birth country Nigeria. 2019 also marked the 48th Anniversary of Patti’s West End debut in the musical “Hair”. The show changed the course of Patti’s life, when at the age of 16 she joined the cast after arriving in London from Nigeria.
Patti who came to prominence as a singer winning the British ITV talent show New Faces, where she made history by becoming the only contestant ever to receive the maximum 120 points, was awarded an OBE for her charity work in the UK and Sub-Saharan Africa in 2016.
