  • Description
  • The combination of John Etheridge, one of the UK’s most celebrated and eclectic guitarists, and the stellar talent of Chris Garrick, undoubtedly one of the world’s top violinist’s in practically every genre, is always a very special brew.

Over the years, this duo have produced 3 acclaimed albums and have honed a concert that can be said to be unique in jazz music .

Both players move between austere acoustic sounds to a full panoply of modern effects, tastefully, subtly deployed to produce a variety of melodies and textures. The ground covered is from Stephane Grappellii/Django Reinhardt to Stockhausen – as you’d expect from players with their pedigree .

John Etheridge’s career has moved from Soft Machine to Stephane Grappelli, from John Williams to Hawkwind, from Nigel Kennedy to Andy Summers (Police) and Chris Garrick has played violin on many of the most recent major films, as well as being championed by John Dankworth (who wrote a violin concerto for him). He runs the incredibly successful Budapest Cafe Orchestra. He has played with all the major UK jazz acts (for 20 years in John Etheridge’s Sweet Chorus) and has played Classical concerts with the BBC concert Orchestra.

‘The partnership of Etheridge and Garrick is one of the most potent in European Jazz’ – Jazzwise magazine
