Matthias Seuffert and Trevor Whiting (saxophones and clarinets) with Martin Litton (piano) and Richard Pite (drums)

Two of Europe’s greatest classic jazz virtuosos are brought together to dazzle and delight.  Their repertoire takes in 1920s masters such as Johnny Dodds and Sidney Bechet through to the 30s and 40s and Coleman Hawkins, Lester Young and Benny Goodman. They are accompanied by Martin Litton, a pianist who emulates all the early jazz piano masters from Art Tatum to Earl Hines and drummer Richard Pite who is known as a Gene Krupa specialist.

Lorenzo is a stunning guitarist from Colombia who has an exciting style that embraces both Django Reinhardt and Charlie Christian.  He is currently touring Europe with Chicago pianist and singer Chris Parrish and this is their only London date in their schedule.  Together they are electrifying.

14th October:
The Rio Trio with special guest Richard White

The Rio Trio is a band specialising in hot jazz and sweet music from the 1920s and 30s.  From the mid-80s to the mid-90s, the band was the busiest trio in London, playing over 250 bookings a year.  Wayne McIntyre was the Bing Crosby-style vocalist who doubled on clarinet.  His replacement was Richard White, whose vocals and instrumental talents were steeped in the music of the Temperance 7.  We’re delighted to bring these two entertaining performers together again, along with Martin Wheatley’s guitar and banjo and Richard Pite’s bass, tuba, and drums.  They now only get together very rarely, so don’t miss this opportunity to see one of the finest 20s and 30s bands of all time.
